EFPA is the first truly European Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with industry accepted professional, educational, examination and ethics standards for financial services professionals across Europe.
EFPA is the largest and most respected professional licensing, standard setting and certification body for financial planners and financial advisors in Europe and was the first European financial standards association created for the express purpose of increasing professionalism in the European financial services sector.
With more than 35 European universities, banking and insurance institutes currently accredited by EFPA’s wholly autonomous Standards and Qualifications Committee (SQC) [to offer the EFPA European Financial Advisor and EFPA European Financial Planner educational programs]; EFPA is the centre of the financial services educational universe regarding the training of banking, insurance and independent financial advising personnel in Europe.
EFPA is recognised as the independent, objective and transparent European financial services authority regarding the provision of examinations for financial advisors and financial planners. All examinations which may result in certification by EFPA have been independently audited and accredited by either the EFPA Standards and Qualifications Committee or with the assistance of National independent scientific committees responsible for accreditation in their respective countries.
EFPA is a force for change and an actor on the European public policy and advocacy stage. Our relationships with the European Commission have produced excellent opportunities for EFPA and our Affiliates. EFPA has submitted, co-authored, or joined a number of influential and timely white papers which have been submitted to the European Commission. EFPA shall continue to inform policy makers as to best practices in the sector and otherwise work in the best interest of our Affiliates and the sector as a whole.
EFPA is at the vanguard of consumer protection in financial services. We emphasise our commitment to the ethical behaviour of our certificate holders by requiring them to swear to abide by the EFPA code of ethics. The EFPA Code of Ethics was written and approved by financial services practitioners and scholars from more than a dozen European countries.
Enjoying excellent working relationships with more than 40 National, European and global banks and insurance companies, EFPA is recognised as the primary provider of educational programs and examinations for industry stakeholder personnel in Europe.
EFPA is committed to the independent European financial advisor and financial planner and has developed mutually beneficial relationships with other important European IFA organisations like: The European Federation of Financial Advisers and Financial Intermediaries (FECIF), Convention of Independent Financial Advisors (CIFA), The Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers (APCIMS), The European Federation of Insurance Intermediaries (BIPAR), European Federation of Investment Funds and Companies (FEFSI), and The Association of International Life Offices (AILO) just to name a few.
EFPA prides itself on its dedication to expanding the body of financial planning theory and knowledge available to practitioners by initiating and sponsoring scientific and practical research into financial planning.
Taken together, our commitment to professional excellence, our relationships with universities and other institutions of higher professional learning, our ethical focus, our links to industry and policy stakeholders, our educational programs and examinations, our services to practitioners and consumers alike represent the very best that any European financial standards association has to offer. EFPA is Europe’s financial standards association.
